My name is James and I have earned a Master’s degree in Music Performance and graduated from Cal State Fullerton. I also have a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education received from the University of Redlands. I have performed with a variety of musical ensembles (college, orchestra, band, chamber groups) and have experience in all musical genres. Currently I am Co-principal of the Corona Symphony Orchestra and play in other groups throughout Southern California as well as the Elementary level band instructor in the Monrovia Unified School district. I have also taught and coached at several middle and high schools for the past few years, and I teach privately throughout the San Gabriel Valley and the Inland Empire. My passion is educating the musicians of tomorrow and helping them discover their innate musical abilities and desires. *** Lesson Details *** My lessons are very student driven and revolve around developing students innate music abilities to help them connect and experience success as well as enriching their lives with music. In my lessons students will develop music appreciation skills by listening to music, understanding basic music theory concepts, growing a knowledge of historical awareness in music all alongside learning the instrument of their chosen preference. The pace set for the sessions is rather relaxed and is highly dependent on the student but, students are guided throughout the sessions to eventually achieve their goals. My main teaching approach is: Let me use my skills and knowledge to help figure out what works best for you! *** Studio Equipment *** The home studio lessons take place in the living room or a finished garage with tile floor. Seating is available in both areas. Parking is on the street. He has an upright piano. *** Travel Equipment *** I can provide music as well as they can provide music as well.
