Lesson Details

I am a positive and patient teacher that loves to find the fun and passion inside every student. My lessons can, and will, all look very different. Some students will work with me via a lesson book and others will use music I hand write to cater to their interests. Some students lessons will involve ear training, others...more music theory, and even others....focusing more on playing with others or composing their own music. My students can look forward to reaching their own goals as well as ... improving their skills and mastery of their instrument.

I have been teaching music both in a k-8 public and charter school setting for 7 years and my private studio was started over 10 years ago. I am most passionate about helping my students discover their passion and working with their own interests to foster their abilities. That means I work with all styles of music. From Chopin to Led Zeppelin to Selena Gomez. I cater each lesson to the specific and unique needs and interests of my students. Music is Fun! I use my tools and experiences to help ... students reach their own goals, whether that be to perform professionally, to sing with their friends, compose their own music, etc...That means that some students will be very serious about their improvement and others will be somewhat casual, though all will be learning at the speed and temperament they like most. I've played the piano since I was 7, my trumpet playing began in middle school, I added guitar in high school, and the rest came with the bachelor's in music education I received from Ithaca College in 2005. I love to play my own music around town and to sing with others both to create and to explore. My students can look forward to learning music they enjoy, receiving the encouragement and support they need to progress, and, most exciting of all, reaching their own goals and mastering their instrument! Music adds flavor, expression, and connection! :) I have a great amount of experience working with students of all ages.
