    About Jacob B.

All throughout his childhood Jake was surrounded by music. His mother, a professional flutist, is his source of inspiration to share music with others and has been teaching flute and piano for over 30 years. His father, a cellist and guitarist, sang him classic folk songs and helped him learn songwriting. You could say that music runs in the family. During his time at NYU he tutored English, percussion, and biology students which helped him realize a passion for helping people solve problems and work towards a creative goal. Jake graduated from New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development with a Bachelor of Music in Music Technology in May 2013. While at NYU Jake received tonmeister training from the original sound recordists and was mentored by world class producer and audio engineer Paul Geluso. Jake is a producer, composer, percussionist, and audio engineer. He lives in Brooklyn with his girlfriend, synthesizers, and drum kit.

    Experience

    Songwriting and Music Production Teacher

    Jan, 2013 - Present

    Generation Music Academy

I founded Generation Music Academy to help the next generation of creative thinkers. I believe that interfacing with creative software allows students to develop complex problem solving abilities by breaking down large scale goals and completing them piece by piece. With newfound confidence they will be better able to present their ideas and challenge themselves to break new ground. Teaching the basics of music technology equips students with the mindset and tools they need to understand todays technology and innovate future technology. Using Garageband, students will experience first hand what is it like to develop an idea from start to finish. This experience is invaluable in showing students how they can shape their future.
