Heidi is very knowledgable in teaching classical vocal techniques. I didn't realize how much Heidi changed my breathing techniques until several months later when the choir members I sing with told me that I was projecting my voice over all of the altos and all of the tenors. Her ability to demonstrate and teach great vocal range and tone is amazing.... She does require that her students practice these techniques at home and is also open to your needs and desires.

In the lessons, you can expect instruction not just on singing a song, but on the mechanism of your vocal chords, the way sound works, how to translate classical singing and correct technique into pop and other styles of singing, how to perform and be engaging, and a myriad of other skills and techniques. It bears repeating, do you ever think "I can't or don't want to learn how to classically sing Opera... who sings that way anymore?! I want to learn how to sing 'for real'"? If you do, you'd be like so many other students who don't understand the correlation between pop/modern style and classical training and you'll miss out on an incredible opportunity. You will learn how to breathe correctly, use your voice in a way that will leave you singing for the rest of your life, and techniques to reach those notes that you thought were impossible. Don't let those thoughts stop you from taking lessons with Heidi. I can honestly say that the techniques I learned with Heidi over 2 years ago, I still use to this day and I'm singing all the time! (In private and in performance). I can sing longer and better than many other peers just because of my lessons with Heidi. I know how to use and treat my voice. She will stretch you to the point where you sometimes feel like you're going to break, but she will always be there to encourage and push - she knows the exact balance! Along with her impeccable skills, talent and knowledge, she is a friend to her students. Personally, I had gone through some very emotional life events and once or twice she would even say "Let's just go for coffee" because I was obviously not focused on singing that day. I can't stress enough how valuable and instrumental she has been in my life. Don't miss out on taking lessons from the best!

A Voice-Transforming Experience Through 4 years of study with Heidi, I can honestly say her teaching has completely transformed my singing voice. Whereas before, I had poor pitch control and a thin, breathy tone, Heidi has taught me technique that has changed all of that for the better. She is a true master of her craft, which both inspired and challenged me to be the best that I can be as a singer. For those who want to be serious about improving their vocal technique and musicality, I could not more highly recommend Heidi as a voice teacher!
