Originally from New York, I moved to Southern California during the summer of 2013 to pursue my teaching career. In 2011, I graduated cum laude with degrees in Music Education and Flute Performance from Manhattanville College. Here, I received several performance awards including the Elliot Magaziner Award, and the Michael L. Fallacaro Award. Additionally, I was accepted into Manhattanville's first annual Students of Great Achievement program. Upon graduation, I was accepted to a New York University graduate program in conjunction with the Kodaly Institute in Kecskemet, Hungary, where I studied music pedagogy and ethnomusicology. Previously in 2010, I also took advantage of a community service exchange program at Manhattanville to travel abroad to Kolkata, India, where I volunteered at a local orphanage. Currently, I reside and teach in Los Angeles County. I teach general music and band in North Hollywood through an amazing program called Education Through Music - Los Angeles. I also run a middle school after-school band program in El Segundo, along with the beginning band at the high school. On top of this I teach woodwinds, and Orff instrumentarium, with the Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles (YOLA) at the Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA). *** Lesson Details *** I take a holistic approach when teaching my students. I not only just care about teaching them to play their instrument and read music but proper placement of the body along with proper practice techniques. *** Studio Equipment *** I have an entire library of solo repertoire for a variety of instruments along with a collection of woodwind and brass instruments. Stands are available for use. *** Travel Equipment *** I will provide music for the first few lessons to gauge the best course for teaching. *** Specialties *** I am working towards my certification in Kodaly Methodology. My main instrument is Flute but I have a strong background in Jazz Saxophone.
