About Me

Musically:

I graduated from West Virginia University's Music Education program in May of 2008. I am a young, eager teacher, with many resources and desire beyond compare.

I have been playing flute, saxophone, and piano for the longest length of time. I am also familiar with percussion, trumpet, trombone, french horn, oboe and most other instruments.

My philosophy of music in the schools is as follows:

Music is a unique experience to everyone, making
it ... invaluable in our school systems. It allows students to express themselves
in a creative manner through musical performance. It also exposes
students to new ideas and cultures through guided listening.

The music education program is meant to provide
students with the musical knowledge, skills, and experiences to succeed in
music in our schools and beyond. They will be provided life skills such
as cooperating, leadership skills, and critical thinking along with the skills
needed to be a successful musician.

I feel that this philosophy can apply to everyone, not just students in the school system, and my teaching style reflects my open attitude towards learning music.

Personally:

I love to read, bike, hike, and work on some crafting. I will read any book or article at least once, especially if it's recommended. I enjoy being with good friends, and can even relax to an xbox every once in awhile. The one instance where the situation does not matter is classical piano being played; I can listen to that any time of day, any place, for it is the best music to my ears.

Lesson Details

Walking into a first lesson, I will sit down with you and talk about what you want. Everyone has different desires and reasons to learn music. After finding out what your goals are and what you know about music, we will outline a course of study that will suit your needs and wants. I expect my students to practice, but I also understand how hectic life can get, and am willing to be flexible.

After 3 to 6 months we will review your progress and see how you feel about what you've ... learned so far. If you don't feel like you have made progress, I will point out improvements that you have made, just to make sure that you see what I see. If you feel your goals have changed we can re-evaluate them at any time and i will redesign the lessons to suit your preferences. I am more than willing to adjust what we are doing so that you get 110% satisfaction from your lessons.
