Violin with Hannah S.

My name is Hannah, a current graduate student at Belmont University earning my Masters in Violin Performance. I am a recent graduate of St. Olaf College with a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance. As a child of two professional musicians, I have been around musical instruction and enterprise my whole life. I feel I bring a unique perspective and sense of genuine passion into my own performing as well as teaching. I believe a successful musician is one whose music causes people to feel. The emotions of human living provide the avenue for our connection with one another. Too often I fear musicians forget about this aspect of music – the ability to influence. While technique is important, especially in the formative years, I think it is vital to develop a conversation between facility and musicality. Through teaching, I desire to communicate these truths to people, hopefully allowing them to not only be in touch with themselves, but with something much greater. Also, playing the violin is fun! I enjoy witnessing the playful and exciting moments my students experience.
