Rated 5 out of 5 by A great guitar teacher Guillermo can teach me anything I wanted to learn in Guitar. I learned Mariachi, Rumba Flamenca, Classical, Bosa Nova, Blues/Jazz. I do want to learn a little of everything but I also want to focus on one genre which is Flamenco. He would just listen to the melody and he can play it... then he can make a cifra/tablature for you... I'm really amazed on how he does that... That is another skill to learn. February 2, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Piano lessons with Guilllermo O. - Great learning experience I had been on the lookout for a good piano teacher for myself in the Worcester/Boston area and am very happy to have found Guillermo through TakeLessions. I am a beginner with little training in music and have had a long-standing desire to learn how to play the piano. With Guillermo, I am not only making great progress at learning how to read and play the piano, but also learning a great deal about the theory of music. The lessons are well-balanced and Guillermo is excellent at tailoring our sessions to teach me the kind of music I like. Guillermo's own deep understanding of music shines through in his lessons and it is a joy to learn from him. January 21, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Naomi is very excited about her piano lessons and is always anxious to practice her lessons and experiment by herself on the keyboard. Guillermo has been able to establish a rapport with her that has given her confidence and a desire to learn to read music. July 29, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Guitar rocks! Guillermo is a great teacher; he has a very nice manner and always provides an appropriate level of challenge. He is also fun; my 7 year old son is having a great experience! April 4, 2012
  • Getting Started

Excited about jumping into music lessons? Before you can get to the guitar tabs, violin concertos, and vocal riffs, take a moment to think about the logistics of your lessons.
    Lesson Length
There are a few things to consider when choosing between 30-, 45- or 60-minute lessons. First and foremost, take your age and experience level into account. You'll also want to think about your long- and short-term goals, and the time you'll need to reach them. Most importantly, consider how long you or your child is able to stay focused.
    Lesson Location
Teachers have the option to display availability for in-home, in-studio, and online music lessons. In-home lessons take place at your house, in-studio lessons are conducted at the teacher's home or professional studio, and online lessons are taught over the internet via live video chat.

    Prepare for Your First Lesson
Once you've completed the last step, your teacher will call you within the next couple of days to confirm your first lesson time and provide you with directions to their studio, if needed. We also encourage you to discuss your goals and any other questions you may have.
    What To Expect
Every teacher is different, but most first lessons begin with an assessment of where you are in your studies. At a beginner level, you might review the basics of your instrument, such as the different parts, how to hold it correctly, and proper care and maintenance. For voice, this may be the time you learn about breathing and posture.
    Reach the Goals You Set
Every TakeLessons student is unique, and so is your lesson plan! You'll work with your instructor to develop a plan suited to meet your specific goals. Most TakeLessons instructors will also keep track of your progress with a lesson journal.
