    About Gina R.

Gina has taught private voice for over a decade, currently from her home studio in Boston's Back Bay. Past teaching experience includes: private voice for non-major voice students and Creativity for the Voice, a four-credit voice class, at the University of Denver; class facilitator for the Singer-Actor Weekly Workout. a Wesley Balk inspired play-space; general music and acting instruction in the K-12 setting. Gina holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a Master of Music from the University of Denver. She has been trained in vocal pedagogy (including the teaching of young voices), private studio instruction, movement, theatre pedagogy, public speaking, entrepreneurship, Alexander Technique, diction and repertoire selection.

Gina has taught students aged 12-91. Students ranged from having no previous experience to those interested in pursuing music as a career. No two lessons in the studio are alike as Gina adapts to each student's particular style of learning. Visual, aural and kinesthetic approaches are used to teach breath management, efficient phonation (singing) and developing resonance and musicianship. Repertoire is assigned according to the student's interests and as appropriate to the level of vocal development.

Gina has performed with Operaverse, Opera Theatre of the Rockies, Loveland Opera Theatre, Opera Fort Collins, Openstage Theatre, Lyric Theatre Festival, CU Opera, and DU Opera and was a scholarship recipient of the Opera Theatre of the Rockies' Vocal Arts Symposium in 2004, 2005 and 2006. In addition to her stage appearances, Gina is a gifted recitalist; specializing in new compositions and twentieth century literature. Stage performances include Dinah in Trouble in Tahiti, Olga Olsen in Street Scene, Third Lady in The Magic Flute, Jenny Diver in The Threepenny Opera, Handmaiden in Turandot; Lady Jane in Patience; Soto in the world premiere of Mark Medoff's Sara McKinnon; Third Spirit in The Magic Flute; Ruth in Pirates of Penzance; Principal and ensemble in S'Wonderful, a review of the works of George and Ira Gershwin; Sister Berthe in The Sound of Music; Peep-Bo in The Mikado; Une Grosse Dame in Les Mamelles du Tiresías; Praskovia in The Merry Widow; Little Buttercup in HMS Pinafore; Mrs. Henry Banks in The Devil and Daniel Webster; and the Mother, Witch and Sandman in Hansel and Gretel with CU Children's Opera Outreach.
