    About Gianni D.

All my life I have played and been around music. My father is a professional guitar player that works at the esteemed Berklee College of Music. So ever since I was young music has always been apart of me. I started learning piano at the age of five so that I could get a good sense of theory at a young age. This has encouraged me to teach my students about the importance of not only playing music but learning the theory behind it. After taking private lessons for about four years on the piano I decided I wanted to explore other instruments. At this time I started taking lessons from a Berklee graduate pat loomis, learning the saxophone. There has always been a drum set in my family’s house but around the age of eight I fell in love with the drums and made that my priority to master them. After about a year of just playing the drums I began to take lessons from the incredible drummer Mike Mangini who has played with Steve Vai, Dream theater and has Won the award of the fastest drummer in the world for single stroke. He really taught me discipline in my practicing and learning all the fundamentals of drumming. He taught me the importance of reading, counting while playing, versatility and most of all not giving up. This I feel will definitely impact my teaching so I can help my students also with discipline, versatility, and etc. I have had the privilege of playing with many of New Englands esteemed musicians because of my father like George Garzone, Joe Santerre, Dino Gavoni, Steve Hunt, and Bruce Gertz. This has giving me the experience of playing live, learning how to connect with a band, and getting over performance anxiety which can be there in a lot of students. I believe I can totally help my students and inspire them to keep playing. I have also had the privilege of working at Berklee College of Music during summer programs to help other musicians who aspire to attend Berklee one day. This can help me with getting my students ready for Berklee if they are trying to attend there in the future. I also am still attending Berklee College of Music and learning so much there that can also provide great help to my students. In the end I will do all that I can to provide knowledge for my students so they can become the best musicians they can be. *** Lesson Details *** What my students could expect from me is to first learn all the basics. Then I like to sit one-on-one with the student and make a detailed practice plan so the student can get the best out of the information the student learns during the lesson. I will explore all styles of music so that the student can become versatile in all grooves and stylistic playing. The student will explore different songs of all styles so he or she can learn and hear the authenticity of the style and have a better understanding on where the music originated. I like my students to also learn one song a week that compliments the style the student is learning. We will learn sight reading, ear training and theory...even for a drummer because all musicians should be versatile in all parts of music. *** Studio Equipment *** Lessons in the basement, drums kit, recording equipment, guitars, amps, piano *** Travel Equipment *** The student is expected to provide a drums set or piano. I require students to buy their own books. *** Specialties *** I can teach music theory to beginners and intermediate students. I also teach drums to beginner, intermediate, and advanced students. I am comfortable with beginners for piano.

    Jun, 2010 - Jul, 2013

    Berklee College of Music

There are summer programs at Berklee College of Music for kids who want to eventually go to Berklee for school. So they hire musicians to play in ensembles so the kids can see how it feels to play with experience musicians.
