Hello! My name is Gavin Wallace-Ailsworth, I'm a Berklee College of Music alumni who teaches guitar, bass, and drums. I've been a professional musician since the age of 15, and am in Boston based international touring rock group Bent Knee. I like to cater my lessons to each student individually. Some teachers have a standard syllabus that they force all their students through, in my experience that isn't how students learn as well as they can. I pride myself on lessons that are as fun as they are educational. Learning an instrument is something that one has to enjoy to want to do. I also make myself available to answer questions via text or phone call should you have any trouble with the material you're learning. *** Lesson Details *** For Drums: I teach beginning to advanced players. We can work on stick control, rudiments, various styles and grooves, songs you would like to learn, reading music, and just about anything on the kit. For Bass: I teach beginning to intermediate players, we can work on music fundamentals such as scales and modes, finger style slap bass, funk and rock grooves, and reading music. I also idolize Les Claypool and Flea, so if you would like to learn about their playing, I would love to teach it! For Guitar: I specialize in teaching beginners. We can work on the basics of the instrument, the scales and modes, all the chords, and songs that you like! *** Specialties *** On drums, I specialize in progressive rock, funk, the drum styles of Neil Peart, and can help prepare for auditions for music schools like Berklee. On bass, I specialize in slap bass, rock music, Les Claypool's music, and groove. On guitar, I specialize in the basics, getting good timing on the instrument, and groove.
