    About Gadi C.

Hello everyone my name is Gadi. I have been exposed to music since I can remember myself. My mom sent me to music appreciation class when I was four years old, I don't remember what we did there, but I guess it worked, I got hooked…. My first instrument was the xylophone when I was about 5 or 6, then I switched to piano at 8-10 and I picked up the guitar at the age of 13 and fell in love with it right away. I played in different rock bands in high school and studied guitar privately. In 2004-2005 I traveled to India where I studied sitar with Sri Anil Singh. In 2006 I came to the U.S, first to New York where I played lead guitar for 2 local rock groups. I moved to Boston in 2007 to study at the Berklee College of music where I collaborated with different singers and bands. In 2009 I formed my own group and we started performing around Boston. We recorded a debut album in the summer of 2010. Recently I moved back to NY and to finish recording my second album. The albums are a mix if styles, most people will call it progressive rock or fusion. I love sharing my love for music and teaching all types of genres, I don't limit myself or my students to any style or technique. I have taught privately for 10 years and taught at "art n' music" school in Newton MA. *** Lesson Details *** In my time as a teacher I have taught students as young as 5 and as old as 70. My students learned chords, scales, harmony and various rhythm patterns. I have taught rock, jazz, blues, funk, classical and world music. Each lessons is different, I always adjust my teaching plan to the needs of the student and I always make the lesson both fun and productive. I think it is very important to keep a relaxed and fun atmosphere especially with young students and to make them want to learn instead of music lessons being a chore. Many times I would ask students to bring in a song that they like and then I would brake it apart to it's harmonic and rhythmic elements, that way teaching the student a few different things in a fun way. I always make students take note of these elements since they are used over and over in different song, in this way it is much easier to learn the next song, and the next and the next etc.. For the more advanced students I offer harmony and arranging studies, improvisation using modes and playing over odd meters, poly rhythms and south Indian rhythmic cycles. *** Studio Equipment *** Separate music room. Amps. A few guitars and a bass guitar. Seating for parents. *** Travel Equipment *** I am able to travel to students with easy access by train. *** Specialties *** For beginning level student I teach simple songs that the students are interested in learning and show them easy way to move from chord to chord and see learn the finger board. With more advanced students I get into harmony, modes and various types of chords. Also for student who are interested I teach arranging, composition and south Indian rhythms and poly rhythms.
