    About Gabriella T.

I've been singing my entire life, and always knew that it was my calling. In middle school I was part of the Alum Rock Jazz Band and went to Stanford for the Stanford Jazz Workshop four times on scholarship, where I learned to improvise and quickly form a bond with my fellow musicians. In high school I found myself deeply rooted in the Drama department and landed myself a role in Grease as Sandy, and as a senior juggled being Velma Von Tussle in Hairspray and night rehearsals as a lead dancer in Children's Musical Theater's rendition of Legally Blonde. I've always loved the spotlight, and although I was only familiar with jazz I decided to burst out of my comfort zone and form an alternative rock band with my classmates, where I learned how to manage and market my band in order to be successful musicians and maintain being a successful student. Recently I've been in several student films and have auditioned for a couple of musicals, as well as having been a part of two bands- one metal band, the other an indie\jazz\rock band. My dream is to become a world renowned singer and performer, but until then I want to help as many other people as I can help reach their goal, whatever that may be. *** Lesson Details *** I'm a very laid-back and easygoing teacher, if the student isn't having fun then they can never truly feel comfortable around you to make the mistakes necessary to grow. I base my lessons off of what the student would like to do, all the while incorporating an emphasis on breathing and proper posture. The student will chose a song and we will work on it together until we both feel that it has been improved to the best of the students ability and we can move on to the next song. I believe that while proper breathing and technique is the foundation of singing, it isn't just knowing the right methods in order to master a song, whether the song be pop, rock, r&b or jazz, emotion and an understanding of the songs lyrics and what it means to them is really what can make that song theirs, so we will discuss every song in detail and find out what it means to the student and how they can incorporate it into the song so that it is a performance and not just practice. *** Travel Equipment *** My laptop. I expect my students to have a song prepared to sing. *** Specialties *** I specialize in the J method and utilizing your lower intercostal muscles to maximize breathing capacities and technique. Breathing is the most important part of singing properly and to your fullest potential, so it is the core of my teaching. For English and Reading, I specialize in analyzing the text so that the student can understand not what is said in plain words but what the author is trying to make them see using rhetorical devices.
