I have learned from some of the best players around in many diverse styles and nurtured a lifelong love of music that I take pride in passing on to my students! I have been playing and teaching professionally for almost 20 years, I am now 30. Parents and students of all ages love my lessons! I have gotten such great feedback over the years, that my lessons are inspirational, fun, and instructive. Parents have remarked that studying guitar with me has contributed to great improvements in the child's grades, concentration, self-confidence and coordination, as well as the obvious musical benefits. I have studied Ethnomusicology and Recording, as well as Jazz and music theory at the College level. I bring a thorough knowledge of all aspects of music and make that learning fun and empowering for students of all ages, interests and backgrounds! I customize lesson plans and teach only what the parents/child/student wants to know. I also give the parents regular progress reports on the status of their child's musicianship. *** Lesson Details *** I am a fun and joyful teacher who also inspires his students to work hard and practice daily! We have lots of laughs in my lesson room and the kids (adults) always leave jazzed up and with a smile on their face. For kids, I use lots of fun rhymes and kids songs to make learning seamlessly fun and impart lifelong musical skills. My students learn music history, theory, and get exposed to the greats of guitar while building strong musical skills in a way that mixes fun and hard work. I use the classics of guitar instructional texts as well as my own custom made worksheets and handouts. I also teach students the music of their favorite artists, guitar strumming classics, scales, solos, improv, and can figure out songs by ear for a student anytime. After 3 months, you will know how to pick basic notes and chords in short tunes, in 6 months, you will also know longer songs, more notes/chords, and be improvising. In a year, I tell my students, they will be ready to tackle "Stairway To Heaven", play the solos, and really understand all the chords. I specialize in teaching all the most fun and classic songs in the history of guitar/bass/uke. Then I show how those songs use the music theory and notes that you have learned. All real-world, hands-on education from somebody who has played the classics for years. My students receive a firm base of knowledge about the history and classic styles, songs and artists of their chosen instrument and style. *** Studio Equipment *** I have a dedicated music instruction space in my wonderful, clean, and well -lit home in a safe residential, suburban neighborhood. I provide the chairs, music stands, amps, cables, writing utensils, music papers, laptop with internet for figuring out and looking up songs, and even extra guitars if a student is unable to bring theirs for whatever reason. *** Travel Equipment *** I bring guitars, hopefully they have amps, etc. If not, I can bring a small amp along. *** Specialties *** All styles and levels are covered. Custom lesson plans available. Specialties include reading music, playing classic songs, understanding chord and music theory, Improvisation, and learning to have fun making music with others!
