I am a classically trained pianist with a love for jazz improvisation. I studied jazz piano with Carol Beth True and apprenticed with master pianist, Billy Foster, at Valparaiso University. I've taught music at home and online for over 10 years. I've played piano, saxophone, guitar and sang with a jazz quartet, symphony orchestra, an 80's cover band, and an experimental afro punk group. *** Lesson Details *** I have been described as patient and understanding. I am strict about technical mastery through deliberate practice. After six months my students are able to Google the chord changes to any song online and play it. You will run every major 7th, minor 7th, and dominant chord through the circle of 5ths and their associated scales. You will have firm control of rhythmic structures clave, swing, waltz, and straight eighths.
