    About Emily K.

Hello! I am Emily and I am currently available for in-studio violin, viola, and cello lessons! I have been playing violin for over 17 years and have been teaching privately for 8. For violin and viola, I teach all experience levels from beginner to advanced. For cello, I teach experience levels beginner and intermediate. Currently, I am an orchestra teacher with Cecil County Public Schools. I teach string instruments in both small group and large ensemble settings to grades 4-12 at Rising Sun Elementary, Rising Sun Middle, and Rising Sun High School. In addition to public school teaching, I have also taught private lessons at the Elizabethtown College Preparatory Division in Elizabethtown, PA, the Spring-Ford School District Summer Music Program in Royersford, PA and Music & Arts in Bel Air, MD. I was on the staff for the Elizabethtown College Music Camp from 2011-2014. I hold a Bachelor's of Music in Music Education from Elizabethtown College. Outside of teaching, I also perform in the Susquehanna Symphony Orchestra, based in Bel Air, MD. For beginners, I use a combination of the Suzuki Method as well as Essential Elements series. We will focus on basic note reading, proper technique, and how to develop a good tone. For intermediate and advanced students, we will use a combination of repertoire and Etude studies, pending on the student's experience, to advance techniques and playing abilities. Lessons are scheduled to best fit to the student'€™s schedule when possible. They will be the same day and time each week. I need to cancel a lesson, I will let you know at least a week in advanced. If possible, I will schedule a make-up. If you need to cancel a lesson, I would like to be notified at least a week in advanced. *** Studio Equipment *** Students are expected to provide their own instruments, accessories, and books. I have a piano and music stands at my home studio. *** Travel Equipment *** Students are expected to provide their own instruments, accessories, and books. If I am traveling to your home, I expect you to provide a stand and a quiet spot for adequate instruction.
