Lesson Details
With 5 years of private teaching experience, I strive to pass on the joy of playing music to my students. In our first lesson we will together outline your goals and ambitions with music and from that I will create a lesson plan tailored to what you wants and need. If you love Bach we won't focus on Charlie Parker, and if you love Jazz we won't focus on Bach. If you don't know what your ultimate goal is that's fine too, we will try all different things together until we find something that

clicks with you. I often listen to music with my students and have them identify what it is they like or don't like about it, it helps me broaden your musical spectra by giving you things to play that I know you would like, but that you might not have thought of.
I put a lot of emphasis on the student enjoying the music you are playing and go out of my way to find you music you want to play, making sure to give you arrangements of the music at your level. This always means more work for me, as I usually do the arrangements, but it's worth it if it means you love what you are playing. For younger beginner students I like to use method and theory books as well as playing songs you love, just to help you learn how to play the instrument effectively, and understand the concepts we are working on. I am not strict, although I do strongly believe that more time you as a student put in at home, the quicker we will reach your goals on the instrument. If you are the type of student who does not practice we will do it in the lesson time, and move forward slower. If you do practice we will be able to move faster and reach your goals faster.
Born and raised in Gothenburg, Sweden, I started my musical training at age 5, with classical piano lessons. It was love from the very first lesson, but I became bored when my teacher refused to let me play what I wanted to play. So I switched to a different teacher hoping that would help. My second teacher only had me play what I wanted and I never got any better because I was never challenged. So with my students I try to find a balance between what they want to play and what they need to

know to be able to play it well and have fun.
At 14 I picked up the flute and figured out how to play it on my own. A year later I went to Hvitfeldtska Gymnasiet, a music high school bordering on conservatory in Gothenburg. There I studied classical flute and piano as well as theory, ear training and a ton of other stuff. Being a classical school, most of what I did was classically oriented, but there were tones of opportunities for me to explore other styles as well. I spent time playing Rock, Pop, Jazz and traditional music from around the world. Jazz was the one I stuck with because I love improvising because it lets me play something different every time rather than classical where everything is written out. I still enjoy playing classical music, but jazz is where my heart is. So I went to College for Jazz performance at Cornish college of the arts in Seattle where I studied a lot of Brazilian music (because it's so much fun) as well as jazz.
Let me help you find the music that makes you happy to play, without forgetting to learn the fundamentals on your instrument!
