Lesson Details

I am a very relaxed person and strive to have my students be comfortable during their lesson. At the same time though, I desire to have an extreme amount of effort both inside and outside of the lesson. I want my students to be challenged each week, and to also experience breakthroughs that excite them. Those exciting moments are what should be motivating the teacher and the student. Once I have met with the student via phone or first lesson, I will ascertain which method book (piano) or ... songs the student should pursue.

Elise has always had an interest in music. Starting in elementary school, she chose to pursue the string bass, piano, and singing. In Jr. High she learned to play the tuba and became involved in drum majoring. From then on, she learned how to play the guitar (amateur), baritone, and some trombone! When at Tabor College, KS, she earned a B.A. in music (emphasis in vocal performance) and was heavily influenced by her music professors who were personable and dedicated to the success of each ... student. It was during her time there when she realized that she wanted other students to know what it feels like to be comfortable in their vocal ability.

From Hillsboro, KS, she moved to Fresno, CA where she was employed at the Reedley School of music teaching both piano and voice. As well as in Hillsboro, she was involved at church were she prepared and lead worship services. Elise continues to do these tasks at her church in Denver, CO. Her responsibilities in these positions has made her sensitive how to deliver vocal criticism and how vocal music doesn’t just affect the listener but the performer too.

Elise has had the privilege of performing solos for two collegiate presidential inaugurations, several Handel’s Messiah performances, musical theatre productions, and also winning 2nd and 4th place in her class at NATS competitions.

Elise is particularly interested in getting the singing student to understand how the vocal mechanism works-- when a certain level of comfort in one's voice is obtained, a new confidence emerges thus impacting the tone. She feels that it is in those "aha!" moments that a student realizes how truly gifted they are.
