I am a violin and viola teacher born and raised in the Baltimore area. I have been teaching private lessons and group classes for the last eight years and studied both performance and pedagogy at some of the best music schools in the country. I most recently completed a Graduate Performance Diploma at Peabody Conservatory, where I also studied pedagogy under Rebecca Henry and Janet Melnicoff-Brown of the Peabody Preparatory. While the majority of my teacher training and professional work has been on the violin, I am a violist at heart. I teach students ages 3 to adult at my home studio in Mount Vernon, and I enjoy working with students who have all different levels of ability and commitment. Everyone is welcome.
Graduate studies at Peabody Conservatory and Longy School of Music.
Undergraduate studies at New England Conservatory and Tufts University.
Orchestral player with the Junge Sinfonie Berlin, Boston Philharmonic, and Annapolis Symphony, among others.
*** Lesson Details ***
My lessons are always planned in a way that fits each student individually. I like to establish a routine that includes technique, music theory, and performing pieces. I believe that it is important to do a little of each in a lesson in order to give the students a solid foundation and foster independence.
*** Studio Equipment ***
I have a second floor music studio with stands and chairs and instrument maintenance equipment. The space has an additional seating area where parents can relax during the lesson.
*** Travel Equipment ***
I will always bring whatever I need in order to teach fully. I would only ask the student to have a quiet space where we could work and a music stand.
*** Specialties ***
My training has included the Suzuki, Rolland, and Sassmanhaus methods, as well as the approach used by the Peabody Preparatory, and I tend to use a blend of all of them, tailored to fit the needs of each individual student.
