    About Donna C.

I'm a pop/rock singer from New Jersey with a B.A. in Music Education from Fairleigh Dickinson University. I majored in voice where I had to sing classical music (!) and I minored in piano. After I graduated, I went on tour with a Broadway review which took me to all parts of the United States and Canada. I sang, danced (including tap dance!) and acted 3 shows a night, 6 nights a week. This really built up my singing stamina! Shortly after that, I recorded my first hard rock album entitled "People Will Talk" which was Number 1 on the Kerang in Germany, The album featured most of my original songs and also a song written by Rick Springfield called "Smile For The Camera". I didn't know it at the times, but my album was very popular in Germany, England and The Netherlands! When my deal was done with this album, I moved to Los Angeles and signed with Pantera Records in Miami, the successful production and writing team behind the girl group Expose. They really didn't know what to do with me because I was a hard rock singer, so they tried to switch me over to dance music. I wasn't ready for that switch at the time, so as I was planning my escape from that company, their production company fell apart and we all went our separate ways. This is how I ended up in Australia recording a dance record called "Surrender" with a producer from Tahiti and some of the members of INX. After several more dance records with local producers, "Touch My Body", "Hold Me Close", "Move It" and "Gotta Get Up", I was ready to branch out into r&b and recorded a retro-funk r& b CD entitled "Come Hell Or High Water" with my co-writer and producer Bill Bentley. This spawned a house single of one of the songs off this CD, "Trust My Love", which was played in many clubs in Los Angeles. I continued to write many different styles of music and be convincing singing those styles. I placed songs in major movies and many television shows and still make money from this today. I then decided to go back to my first love, rock and roll and recorded the CD "Just Another Day" with my band Hemlok Bay. I re-connected with my former producer/co-writer Bill Bentley and wrote the awesome single "Do You Hear Me" which was nominated for Best Rock Single at The Los Angeles Music Awards. "No Rain Til' Sunday" has been featured on Fox Sports. Right now, I sing, play keyboards and Latin percussion in my party band Donna C. And The Camel Tones as well as the lead singer for a blues band called UB2. I will help you to sing in tune and with confidence in whichever style you're comfortable. I can help you learn to perform and connect with an audience. *** Lesson Details *** When starting voice lessons with me, I will first hear you sing and talk with you to find out what your goals are. What type of artist do you compare yourself to? What style of music do you like? Do you see yourself auditioning for any of the TV talent shows? I will take you through strengthening exercises and we will find songs you would like to learn. I can either accompany you on piano or you can get a karaoke track. For piano, I start out with a beginner book with music theory so you can learn the notes and their values. I do the same for flute students, although most of the first lesson for a flute player is making a sound without getting dizzy! *** Studio Equipment *** Keyboard *** Travel Equipment *** I can take students in the San Fernando Valley as well as the Santa Clarita area because I am frequently in the San Fernando Valley. I can bring a keyboard, but it's best if they have their own so they can practice if they are a piano student. For voice, I can bring a keyboard *** Specialties *** I specialize in pop style of singing and piano, although for piano and flute, I use the basic methods
