Guitar with Dennis T.

I have been a guitar player for 40 years. I play blues, country, folk, and pop. My approach to teaching the guitar is unique and fun. I do not teach an endless series of lessons exploring scales, chords, and music theory. I teach the guitar by way of teaching the student specific songs which highlight a particular area of music theory. In this way, the student becomes familiar with elements of music theory without being bored to death being taught dry music theory lessons. A student's curiosity about music theory is inspired when he or she begins to question how songs he or she is learning are put together. I believe that teaching the guitar in a fun and meaningful way requires that the lessons be memorable and inspiring, and teaching my students songs from the first day inspires students to continue with lessons to see what songs they will learn next. Bringing out and nurturing a passion for guitar playing is my first priority. It's the whole reason I teach. And I make it fun.
