Music continues to be the focal point of my life! It makes my world go around. I have always been involved in playing for something: an organist at a church, a pianist for soloists, accompanying performing groups, pianist with orchestras, and many times, solo performances on the piano or organ. Teaching is second nature to me, having taught music in public schools, plus classroom grades 3-6, for a total of 20 years. I have taught many piano and organ students privately over a 30 year span and enjoy teaching all ages. Quite of a number of my students are now teachers themselves. I love introducing young children to music and delight in watching their newly acquired skill become something fun in their life. I also enjoy the challenge of teaching adults who've made the late-life decision to "finally learn to play the piano". Excitement for learning music and coming to lessons is the pay back for good teaching. Music is a life time gift to yourself that just keeps on giving! It certainly has been the gift I gave myself many years ago, and I love seeing my students develop a gift of music that I know they will enjoy for the rest of their life. I have a bachelors and master's degree, certification in administration and supervision, and have developed a teaching style that is based on positive feedback and reinforcement for the novice learner as well as for the more experienced student. *** Lesson Details *** My lessons are always designed around the needs and interests of each student, from early elementary age to adults. I have taught public school music in the classroom K-6, taught piano from beginners to advanced students, and pipe organ for more advanced piano students. I teach a balanced curriculum using traditional methods that include some basic theory, correct performance skills, some music composition for the older student, plus, inject a dose of fun with current music that makes their time at the piano more relevant to their interests. Adults learn differently than younger students, teenagers have different interests. My years of experiences in all of these age groups gives me an advantage in adapting my lessons to fit the interests and needs of any age. *** Studio Equipment *** Studio Yamaha Piano *** Travel Equipment *** *** Specialties *** Methods haven't changed over the decades - I teach traditionally including the basics along with music theory.

Parents Endless patience and enthusiasm to teach both my son and daughter both theory and lessons. We are so blessed to find the teacher like Dee L. She goes extra miles and to make sure her students understand and learn music well. Thank you.
