I love to sing! I know many people say that but I really do. My love for music brought me to teaching and there is honestly nothing better than seeing your student succeed. I have been fortunate enough to get many performance opportunities. There's nothing like feeling that adrenaline rush though when you have a live band backing you up! This passion for performance and for teaching others how to reach their maximum potential is what drives my life.
I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor's in Music Education and I am currently earning my Master's in Music Education at Azusa Pacific University. I have been singing since I was 5, had 2 years of classical training, followed by 5 years of commercial music training and performances and I've also auditioned for X Factor. I have worked with students of all ages and abilities including students who are over 65! It's never too late to have some fun and improve your singing.
I welcome the opportunity to help you on your musical journey, whether you're just starting out, want to fine tune (no pun intended) your skills, or would like to refresh your voice. I love sharing my passion for performance with others and I hope to encourage and inspire my students to share that passion.
*** Lesson Details ***
I am all about balance. Learning should not be a painful process, and learning music or improving one's musicianship should be fun, invigorating, but also a challenge. Setting goals and working hard are both important components in a student's success; I believe that by making lessons fun and engaging, reaching one's goals and abiding by guidelines come naturally.
Every student's needs are different and I aim to tailor my lessons to suit both the strengths and weaknesses of every individual. I utilize sheet music and customized solfege and rhythmic exercises to aid the student in attaining a well-rounded musical learning experience.
It is my hope that in 3 to 6 months time, a student will gain proper vocal techniques, understand and expand their vocal range, gain confidence in their abilities, and not only broaden their own personal repertoire, but also develop their own personal singing style!
*** Studio Equipment ***

*** Specialties ***
For students who wish to learn ear training, I base my teaching on Kodály and use solfege as a tool. I believe that any singer should have a fundamental, working knowledge of solfege in order to sight read successfully.
I took 2 years of classical/opera training, but the bulk of my singing instruction and experience has been in commercial music.
I structured a music program tailored to the school's needs. My students had no prior music experience and at the end of my school year, they were able to sing and blend as a choir, sing major and minor scales using solfege, and improve their vocal tone and technique.
