About David M.
David D. M. is the Program Manager for the Urban Arts Leadership Program at the Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance. He is a Robert W. Deutsch Foundation Fellow, Associate Artistic Director at Arena Players Inc, and the former Managing Director for Run of the Mill Theater... “It’s Anything But!” David is a graduate of The New School for Social Research. He returned to Baltimore in 2005 to work as a full time lecturer at Morgan State University and since then he has been a facilitator and major catalyst; in bringing together diverse segments of the performing arts community. He’s initiated working relationships among students from Morgan, Coppin, Towson, UMBC, Goucher and Loyola who generally have not worked together previously. He has also created opportunities for emerging arts organizations from diverse segments of the Baltimore performing arts community to work together on a variety of projects.
He has instructed university and college students in the fundamentals of theater, acting, advanced acting, voice, and theater history. In 2009 American Theater Magazine recognized him as one of 25 artist form across the country to have a significant impact on theater over the next 25 years. He was also recognized by Style Magazine as being on the cutting edge of Baltimore’s small theater movement and Bmore Media dubbed him one of Baltimore’s Theater Masterminds.

Advanced Scene Study This class is designed for professionals and non-professionals
interested in acquiring advanced acting skills. Classes will assist
students in discovering impulse and authenticity. Special attention will be given to the breakdown and execution of a contemporary scene, with a concentration on objectives and tactics. The class also includes advanced text analysis by way of beats and adjustments. All Instruction incorporates the Meisner Technique as a means of isolating impulse. The class reinforces such basics as, improvisation, sensory awareness, and the language / vocabulary of the theatre.
ESSENTIALS OF DRAMA
This class is designed for non-professionals interested in acquiring basic acting skills. Classes will assist students in developing techniques they can use for any stage performance. Special attention will be given to preparing a contemporary monologue, with a concentration on character motivation, sense memory and text analysis. All Instruction incorporates the teachings of Lee Strasberg (The Method) and Sandy Miesner. In this class, the actor learns to apply fundamental acting principles through a progression of exercises that develop his/her ability to work organically and truthfully. The class covers such basics as physical and vocal awareness, improvisation, non-verbal expression, sensory awareness, identifying objectives and
tactics, and the language / vocabulary of the theatre.
