    About David M.

At age 7 I started playing violin in school (1974). My grandfather (who was a professional musician for most of his life) surprised me in 1980 by paying for private instruction. In 1984 I completed Suzuki instruction and had already performed with several small orchestras and ensembles. Sadly I put the violin down for the better part of the next 15 years (and a scholarship to Interlochen) as at that time electric guitar was MUCH cooler than violin (or so I thought, in retrospect). While the guitar is a fantastic instrument my first love will always be the violin, and I'm glad I came back to it. Since then I've given lessons, performed with many groups and composed two CD's with various instrumentation in several genres. My personal experience with private instruction was excellent! In one year I excelled more than all the previous years combined. The difference was that I LEARNED how to play by ear. Once you master this, there's nothing you can't play!! *** Lesson Details *** My teaching "style" is very loose quite honestly, though the results are very fast. I'd rather concentrate on technique than technical details. I do read and write music of course, though that isn't my Forte' so to speak (had to throw in that bad music pun). I would rather my students stay interested in what they are actually producing vs becoming disinterested in technicalities. *** Studio Equipment *** 1974 Roth and Sons 2012 Yamaha Silent Violin *** Travel Equipment *** 1974 Roth and Sons 2012 Yamaha Silent Violin *** Specialties *** Popular music selections from the 60's, 70's and 80's. Rock, classical, pop, disco, folk. TV and Movie themes If it can be heard, I want to play it!
