Lesson Details

I'm excited to start teaching through Take Lessons. After approx. 8 years in the educational side of music, I'm looking forward to giving back. Although I have a performance degree in voice and a Bachelors in music, I believe that teaching is one of the only ways to continue to learn about the art and the life of music.

A little about my background: I consider myself and tenor and have played the piano professional for about 5 years. During my master's studies at Shenandoah Conservatory I ... was able to work on music by Puccini, Mascagni, Floyd, Mozart’s, and Bizet to name a few . In March 2009, I was selected as a finalist in Shenandoah’s Student Soloist Competition. In April 2010, I performed the role of Sam in Shenandoah Conservatory's Opera, Street Scene, by Kurt Weill. Most, recently I was able to play the role of Don Ottavio in the Repertory Opera Theater of Washington’s Don Giovanni. Currently I am working with the Victorian Lyric Opera Company in Rockville Maryland in their production of Die Fledermaus. On the other side, Contemporary music and Music Theater is also passion. Currently I finished music directing and taking part in Godspell at First Presbyterian Church in Winchester VA. I have played the role of Adam/Noah Faquier County's production on Children of Eden. My favorite musicals are Wicked, Les Mes, and The Secret Garden. Most recently I finished a 2 and a half year term as Praise and Worship Leader for the First Presbyterian Church in Winchester VA.

Enough about me: I'm excited and anxious to learn about you. Many times when people hear piano lessons, or voice lessons they become intimated. They sometimes say, "I can't sing," or "I can't play the piano." Well I'm here to tell you, yes, you can. Our lessons will not only be filled with music making, but in music understanding as well. We will talk and discuss your feelings towards music, the theory behind the music, and where the music came from. We will choose music in accordance to basic lesson standards but we will also choose music in accordance to you, and music that excites you. We will have fun, but we will also work. My goal is to make the music in our lessons as exciting as possible so when you study outside of our lessons, it doesn't feel like work, but it feels like something you want more of.
