Lesson Details

I am a laid back teacher and like to keep my lesson plan open-ended and fun. I combine different styles and resources in my lessons to make each one stimulating and memorable. I consider proper posture and warm up routines to be very important and like to start each lesson of with a few relaxing stretches. Some of the topics I cover are:

- Chord structures

- Improvisation

- Rhythm

- Stage preparation

- Music theory

- Songwriting

- Ear training

... Because I am in touch with my own learning process I am able to pinpoint each student's needs and create material that helps them overcome obstacles quicker and easier than they thought possible. Watch as their musical ability and understanding grows by leaps and bounds!

I have been working with students of all ages for the past six years as a private and group lesson instructor, bandleader and clinician. At a summer camp in New York I would regularly have kids from other sections sitting in on my classes because of the creative and exciting learning environment that I create.

As a graduate of Berklee College of Music I have experienced every genre and teaching method. As a result I can shape my curriculum to the student's personal interests and preferred ... learning style. During lessons I take a solid foundation of music theory and technical practice and place it in context to modern musical examples, allowing students to understand the material on their own terms. I am patient, animated and I love what I do!
