Hello, I am a professional musician with over 21 years of service as a military bandsmen. I've been stationed all over the world and have had the privilege to perform in some of the greatest concert halls. I love to work with students of all ages and can teach beginning-intermediate piano, and beginning-advanced flute. Prior to joining the military, I taught general music in the Texas Public School system. I have a bachelor€'™s degree in music education from the University of Texas at Arlington. I am a very active flutist in this area, performing with The Tidewater Winds, The Hampton Roads Philharmonic, and various small chamber groups. *** Lesson Details *** I believe in creating a very positive environment for my students. I am very patient and upbeat. Whether you are a beginner, or more advanced, I can tailor the lessons to your needs. I will give you a solid foundation in the fundamentals of music in a creative and fun way! I enjoy working with students of all ages. If you are just starting to learn, or have decided to come back to music lessons, I believe you will enjoy studying with me! ***Also, be advised, that if you are a beginner, I only teach 30 minute lessons! This is best for all beginners, whether a young student, or an adult student!! (Also, FYI, we do have cats in our home!) *** Studio Equipment *** Home studio with an upright piano for lessons. *** Travel Equipment *** Music stand, instrument and any books I recommend.

I am near the top-end of her student's age bracket... I hope she increases her range in a year or two. I'm returning to lessons for my own enjoyment....and, in the first two weeks she taught more than a year with others. Specifically she showed me how to practice non-vibrato long tones to increase my volume and tone; she is helping me get solo pieces metrically correct, before I start adding the dynamics. And, she is helping to adjust my posture while playing, I enjoy playing duets with her near the end of the lesson and hearing her play professionally at concerts around the peninsula. I wish the lessons were longer. I highly recommend her!
