Specialties
My classical training at Chapman's Conservatory of Music and background in musical theater (in performance, direction and musical direction) as well as my success with directing and performing with the incredible voices in the nationally ranked college a Capella group "SoundCheck," have given me a diverse outlook on how to guide the voice in any style of music. I primarily teach the "Bel Canto" style of singing as I believe it is the healthiest approach to singing for all of these styles.

"Healthy singing" is a concept too often ignored by the music in our culture; I believe it is the key to finding enjoyment in singing.
I have worked with many extremely talented young singers over the past four years with tremendous growth in all of them, and I have a unique perspective when it comes to guiding individual voices toward creating their own sound. My students learn the basics of healthy vocal production and the importance of artistry in their singing all while having fun!
My lessons begin with vocalizing or "warming up" where I will listen and asses the areas of improvement that each student might have. I
...
address these areas with various solutions and practices that the student can begin utilizing in the lesson and continue at home.
The rest of the lesson is spent practicing repertoire that either the student is already singing, or something I have given to them. During this time I begin to dissect the music and suggest new ways to approach certain passages in the music, issues of breath control, pronunciation, and elements of performance techniques.
I have been studying, arranging, teaching and performing music for the past twelve years. As a vocalist, I have appeared on stages throughout the country as both leads in major musical theater productions, as well as a featured soloist with world class choral ensembles and a Capella groups. My degrees from Chapman University's Conservatory of Music include a "Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance" and a "Bachelor of Music in Music Education, Vocal Emphasis".
