teacher feedback
Paul H - I am 17 and have had a few guitars over the years but never had a chance to get some lessons. I got a new acoustic guitar at Christmas and lessons through Take Lessons. My mom was able to arrange lessons with an instructor coming to our home. Dan called and talked to me about a week before the lesson. He asked about my experience with instruments and what type of songs I wanted to learn how to play. It helped to break the ice and I wasn't as nervous when he came for the first lesson. I was going to originally get lessons on my acoustic guitar, but after some problems with tuning it and some feedback from Dan, we moved to my electric guitar. It turned out the acoustic guitar was not of the quality my folks had hoped when they purchased it. Dan helped my parents and I to not be discouraged and explained that it would be easier to learn to play on an electric guitar and why. He knew a lot! He advised we get new strings for the electric, helped string it and tune it. We really appreciated that extra help. Dan was always on time for our lessons and he made learning fun and easy. He is a very patient instructor and easy to learn from. It was great having him come to my home to give the lessons where I am most comfortable. I still have more to learn but I am glad I had the opportunity to take lessons with Dan!

Kyle H. - I am 14 and have been wanting to learn how to play the guitar for a long time. I have played the violin in school, but really wanted to learn the guitar. I was a little nervous about not being able to "get it" and how the instructor was going to be able to teach me. Dan put me at ease with a phone call he made about a week before the actual lesson. He asked me questions to find out more about me and my interest in playing the guitar. He gave me achievable goals to work on for practice until our next lesson. I was really surprised at how easy he made it seem and how quickly I was able to pick up on what he was showing me. His advice and experience with the electric guitar really helped me to have more confidence in my abilities. I think it is pretty cool that he has played in bands and met some great musicians. Through his encouragement and praise, I wanted to practice every day and be ready for what he would teach me at the next lesson. It has been great having an instructor come right to my house every week! Everyday after I get home from school I go straight to my guitar and play what I am learning. Dan has been so great helping me to get it strung and tuned. It sounds awesome! I am very excited to be finally learning how to play the guitar!

First Impressions
They say first impressions are lasting, well Dan C. jumped right in and and set a very comfortable learning environment. As a novice beginner (Bass) I appreciated that and believe it or not I actually learned something in notes after just one lesson. Even with beginner mistakes he encouraged me to keep going until I got it right, and I did.
I am a 20 year Navy VET and I've taught and know a good teacher when I meet one. Dan is one.
Also, the take lessons organization has been very professional and timely in all of my questions etc.... I've made a great decision going with them!

Dan's Feedback
January 23, 2011: In my opinion Dan is a fine instructor, very friendly and easy to talk to. My son took guitar lessons several years ago, he was taught in a style that went straight to playing songs by tablature…He could not read the notes, so I appreciate Dan teaching me to read the notes and learn the timing. I appreciate the way that he encourages me and in a tactful way pushes me to play better. When his alarm goes off to signal the lesson is over, he doesn’t just pack up and rush off. He will take the time to finish whatever we are working on and let me know what I need to work on to prepare for the next lesson. .....Thanks Dan!!!
[Update] December 6, 2011: I could not be happier that I had Dan as my guitar instructor over this past year and if not for obtaining a full time job on top of full time college I would be continuing my lesson with him. He is always professional while also being able to put a smile on your face. Most of all he is just a great guy that's fun to play with. He is also very good at judging and predicting your abilities and matching them up with songs to learn; Songs that you know and like, so as you are learning the song, timing is easier to get down and you really have fun learning.
I picked one song to learn, he let me know that it may be a little too advanced for me but without discouraging me. I should have listened, because that song had me so discouraged and frustrated that I would not pick up the guitar for days. He is so easy to talk with I was able to call him at home. He was able to motivate me to practice a different way and the next lesson I was moving on to another song. Dan is a huge asset to your organization and certainly the more instructors you have like Dan the more your company will flourish.
