My lessons focus on what you, the student, want to learn. I have been teaching guitar for 8 years and love every moment of it. I bring a wide understanding of music and a great appreciation for musical development. My first instrument was piano, which I played regularly for 8 years, then I found my true passion when I began playing guitar, 13 years ago. Mostly, I like to play Pop, Classic Rock, Modern Rock, RnB, and Funk. Guitar is a very versatile instrument and can be used to accompany one's self while singing, lead a band with solos and riffing, carry the rhythm of the band, or create sparkling fills to take songs to a whole new level. I have done all of the above and study these techniques constantly. 13 years of guitar, 8 years of piano, 6 years of bands, 2 years of voice, and a degree from Musicians Institute, have given me my musical foundation. And now, I want you to learn to play and make music that makes you happy. *** Lesson Details *** My lessons are based on communication. I want to know what you are interested in learning and the music that you like. Whether you want to learn your favorite songs, write your own songs, or play guitar solos, we will work together on developing the necessary skills. My lessons are relaxed, because I never want the student to feel uncomfortable about music. Lessons should reinforce that music is for enjoyment. While practicing and learning can sometimes be frustrating, a teacher should be there to ease that frustration and to provide encouragement. I do not use any one guitar method book, I teach from multiple sources and from the knowledge and experience that I have. In the lesson, I will either bring in music or write it out on the spot, trying to tailor it specifically for the student's needs. For younger students, I have some books with songs that are simpler and more familiar to them. In all lessons, we will work on fundamentals, music theory, and most importantly songs! *** Travel Equipment *** I expect the student to provide their own guitar and amp. I usually teach with an electric guitar and I can bring my own amp, if the student does not have an amp for me to use. *** Specialties *** Specialize in Classic Rock, Modern Rock, Pop, RnB, and Funk guitar. I have also taught Metal guitar, but not in the past year. I have taught songs to students ranging from Country to Metal to Teeny Bop, and my main strength is finding the style that the student feels most comfortable and enthused about. Songwriting has also been a strong method I teach. Multiple students I have taught harmonic relationships, scales, and song structure. We have created entire songs together and recorded them.
