Saxophone with Crystal B.

A saxophonist by trade, I, Crystal B., have been privately instructing for six years. The ultimate goal of my teaching style is for my students to become well-rounded musicians. I achieve this by providing individuals with a solid foundation in basic music theory (i.e. scale structures) in order to understand any music that is presented to them, and challenge them with site reading exercises. A better understanding of music leads to the true enjoyment of playing music. As a freelance musician, I am a woodwind doubler within the Philadelphia circuit. A versatile player, I have performed in shows including Thoroughly Modern Millie with the Upper Darby Summer Stage, Fiddler on the Roof also with the Upper Darby Summer Stage, and A Chorus Line with the Swarthmore Player’s Club, while simultaneously performing with jazz band The Big Band Theory. I currently attends WCU for music education and performance under the tutelage of saxophone professor Greg Riley, who holds a doctorate in music from USC. Also, I continue to develop my clarinet and flute knowledge with Dr. Stephanie Esposito (The Shenandoah Conservatory).
