    About Clio T.

Violinist and violist Clio performs classical music, from baroque to contemporary, and she seeks to share her passion for music through teaching. She currently teaches violin and viola throughout the bay area, working with students one on one as well as in group classes. She also teaches children ages 0 – 5 developing music fundamentals through singing and play. She has completed a Music Together training to enhance her knowledge of early childhood musical development. She has also worked with students in a variety of settings such as the New York City public schools, touring the Philippines with the nonprofit Cultures in Harmony, and combining music and literacy development through the CLIMB program at The Juilliard School. As a performer, Clio is a musician of many interests. Equally at home with contemporary, classical, and early music repertoire, she studied at Oberlin Conservatory and the Juilliard School and has been heard across Europe, Asia, and the United States. A Fulbright fellowship recipient, she spent two years studying and performing viola and early music in Switzerland and observing how funding affects musical life in Europe and the United States. Clio performs regularly as a baroque violist and violinist with the American Bach Soloists, the Albany Consort, Musa, and the Wallfisch Band. Currently a substitute with the San Francisco Symphony, Clio has also performed with the Sinfonietta de Lausanne, Camerata de Lausanne, and the Orchestre Symphonique de Genève. An active chamber musician, she performs with Classical Revolution and Prince de Dame. *** Lesson Details *** Using a curriculum ranging from the baroque era to old time and Irish fiddle tunes for beginners to a more advanced and diverse repertoire for intermediate and advanced students, I aim to give each student a solid foundation on the violin or viola. This prepares my students to be able to read music and to play by ear and take the violin in whatever direction they choose later on. Using a combination of scales, exercises, rhythm games, I teach my students how to be comfortable and facile on their instruments and to be over all well rounded musicians. Each student is unique and I vary my teaching approach based on each individual student's learning style. *** Travel Equipment *** Sheet music if needed, student provides instrument. *** Specialties *** I teach baroque violin and viola (for music from the 16th to 18th centuries) as well as their modern counterparts.
