Chris' mission is to empower students to create any music they enjoy, and instill the love of music for a lifetime. *** Lesson Details *** Chris is a laid back instructor with simple honesty in regards to what it takes to reach various musical goals. He is dedicated to helping students reach their musical ambitions with a huge tool chest of techniques and resources. Tools like reading music, ear training, theory, improvisation, song writing, are just a few essential concepts Chris focuses on. The key word is "playing" music. We "play" music in our lessons, so come ready to rock! *** Studio Equipment *** I've been playing and collecting instruments for the last 30 years. My equipment list is very long. Let's just say my house is overflowing with instruments. *dog and cat at home. *** Specialties *** I am a MUSIC teacher. I teach the language of music. I happen to teach a variety of instruments but the primary concepts I teach are not instrument specific, but music specific. Of course I know the specifics of the instruments I teach and have invested thousands of hours into learning each one of them. I am also a music student and always will be. I have studied with private teachers for 30 years and still take lessons and enjoy the life long endeavor of creating music. Some specifics of what I teach are as follows: I teach voice using the diaphramatic costal breathing technique, which I have a certification issued by the worlk renowned vocal coach Dr. Scott Martin. I specialze in teaching tools for students to teach themselves, such as reading music, theory, improvisation, and composition. Jazz, Rock, Pop, Funk, Counrty, are my most requested styles for all instruments. I do teach classical music for woodwinds only. I teach most styles of guitar with the exception of flaminco and classical. I teach most styles of singing except classical and opera. I teach all styles of flute, saxophone, and clarinet. I teach beginner ukelele. I'm a huge fan of giving students the tools to teach themselves! I want my students to be empowered, not dependent on me. Although many dedicated students have stuck with me for more than a decade, they recieved tools to teach themselves after the first lesson.
