Overview

I draw on my twenty years of playing music and share the insights I've learned along the way. I am available nationwide via Skype or through Google Help outs for Guitar, bass and Violin lessons.
I have performed at the French Quarter Jazz festival at age 18 and alongside Russell Malone during the season's conclusion at the Fine Arts Center in downtown Atlanta. I applied and was accepted to Belmont University in Nashville, TN. I studied guitar under John Pell and Paul Abrams. While in school I majored in Commercial Music with an emphasis on music business. When not attending class I spent time performing with various groups including an a Capella chamber singing group, various bands and learning the ins/outs of studio recording and mixing. I found an internship with Yamaha musical instruments where I tuned and maintained instruments for players like John Hiatt, Christopher Cross, Peter Frampton, Tommy Sims, Drew Zingg, Kenny Greeneberg, Larry Carlton, Skunk Baxter and Martin Taylor. Sitting in on rehearsals and sessions with these artists provided insight and experience no college course could. After graduation I went on the road for Yamaha providing artist relations for the H.O.R.D.E. tour where I worked alongside the Barenaked Ladies, Ben Harper and Blues Traveler.
I have opened for various artists including Buckwheat Zydeco, Hubert Sumlin,The Nighthawks, and the late Sean Costello. I have also performed with the Temptations. I have played professionally with Johnnie and the Lowdowns, The Groove Motive and was a session player for the Tammi Kamin band. My guitar talents have also been used to teach preschool children, lead worship at churches and provide musical consolation at funerals. My album credits include student records at Belmont University and the EP titled, Johnnie and the Lowdowns. I am a fan of surf, jazz, and blues and have recorded some of my own creations with my own group, the C.A.T.
As a teacher I strive to show others how to play and create music. My lessons focus on providing the budding musician with the tools to become a proficient player. I have taught privately, group instruction and college level guitar. I have over ten years experience in teaching in classrooms and studios. By focusing on dedication, self discipline and consistency my students have gone from learning to read simple notation to understanding chord theory and how to improvise musically over changes as well as playing their role in an ensemble. Keeping lessons fun is an integral part of practical instruction and I bring my enthusiasm for music to each student. Creativity through knowledge is the core of my instruction.

Great with kids!

My daughter began taking lessons with Chris via Skype just a few months ago. I was a little skeptical about how productive violin lessons would be over Skype but was also excited at the possibility of my daughter taking lessons without having to drive 30 miles each week to do so. Our experience with Chris has been great! He works very well with my 6 year old keeping instruction interesting and meaningful for her. I have been impressed with his professionalism and his flexibility and fairness. I would highly recommend Chris to anyone!

Patient, knowledgeable instructor!

Chris has a great approach to guitar instruction...he is very good at working at your level and making sure you aren't comfortable staying there! Patient and understanding, he makes you get the most of your time practicing so you can make good progress at learning the instrument. I also appreciated the reminders that music is supposed to be fun, and lessons/practice shouldn't be torture! He really helps trying to find "your" music inspiration, and his encouragement and support in my music growth has been great.

Learning the violin can be fun at any age

I am enjoying learning from Christopher. I was a little hesitant about learning through a "Skype" format - but with Christopher's quality mic and camera, I feel like he is in the room with me. He gives solid and useful feedback and I can easily see and hear what he is demonstrating. Learning the violin at 60 is tough - but Christopher is always positive, smiling and encouraging. Most of all, he suggests pieces to practice that are within my range both for skill and interest level. He is personable, punctual and dependable, I highly recommend this instructor.
