I draw on my twenty years of playing music and share the insights I've learned along the way. I am available nationwide via Skype or through Google Help outs for Guitar, bass and Violin lessons.
I have performed at the French Quarter Jazz festival at age 18 and alongside Russell Malone during the season's conclusion at the Fine Arts Center in downtown Atlanta. I applied and was accepted to Belmont University in Nashville, TN. I studied guitar under John Pell and Paul Abrams. While in school I majored in Commercial Music with an emphasis on music business. When not attending class I spent time performing with various groups including an a Capella chamber singing group, various bands and learning the ins/outs of studio recording and mixing. I found an internship with Yamaha musical instruments where I tuned and maintained instruments for players like John Hiatt, Christopher Cross, Peter Frampton, Tommy Sims, Drew Zingg, Kenny Greeneberg, Larry Carlton, Skunk Baxter and Martin Taylor. Sitting in on rehearsals and sessions with these artists provided insight and experience no college course could. After graduation I went on the road for Yamaha providing artist relations for the H.O.R.D.E. tour where I worked alongside the Barenaked Ladies, Ben Harper and Blues Traveler.
I have opened for various artists including Buckwheat Zydeco, Hubert Sumlin,The Nighthawks, and the late Sean Costello. I have also performed with the Temptations. I have played professionally with Johnnie and the Lowdowns, The Groove Motive and was a session player for the Tammi Kamin band. My guitar talents have also been used to teach preschool children, lead worship at churches and provide musical consolation at funerals. My album credits include student records at Belmont University and the EP titled, Johnnie and the Lowdowns. I am a fan of surf, jazz, and blues and have recorded some of my own creations with my own group, the C.A.T.
As a teacher I strive to show others how to play and create music. My lessons focus on providing the budding musician with the tools to become a proficient player. I have taught privately, group instruction and college level guitar. I have over ten years experience in teaching in classrooms and studios. By focusing on dedication, self discipline and consistency my students have gone from learning to read simple notation to understanding chord theory and how to improvise musically over changes as well as playing their role in an ensemble. Keeping lessons fun is an integral part of practical instruction and I bring my enthusiasm for music to each student. Creativity through knowledge is the core of my instruction.
