Overview

My great love and passion in life is music and I really love to share this with my students. I teach voice and harp. I work with music in a therapeutic capacity and I am an active performer, performing many times a week. I love to write and compose music as well and this year I released my album of original harp compositions entitled "A Sacred Journey". I bring all these elements to my students of the joy and creativity that music brings, the tremendous healing and transformational power that healing has and I encourage and assist students with their performance goals. Due to my own strong performance background and my work as a therapeutic musician, I am able to help students overcome fears and blocks to performing. I have been very fortunate to have had some incredible and world class music teachers and mentors who have coached me in both my instruments. I really believe in helping students to find what makes them come alive and feel passionate for their art. I tailor my teaching to suit the individual learning styles and uniqueness of each student and help them to set goals for themselves and then work towards them. I have taught students from as young as two years old to 70 plus. I love teaching music and sharing with my students and I always learn so much from them as well. I have explored many different genres of music. Vocally I have performed with a number of choirs and choruses, sang in operas, musical theater and been a lead and back up singer in a folk rock band and celtic music. Past performances in opera include Lucia di Lamermoor, Cavelleria Rusticana, Aida, I Pagliacci, Verdi's Requiem. Past performances in musical theater include Kiss Me Kate (lead), The Secret Garden, Carousel, The Sound of Music, Annie Get Your Gun, Joseph's Technicolor Dreamcoat.
I perform solo and in conjunction with other musicians with my harp for events of many different kinds, weddings and concerts.

*** Lesson Details ***
I love for my students to be having FUN and enjoy the lesson. I know that if the student is having fun, they will learn a lot more. I like for all students to get fundamentals of music with ear training, sight reading and musical notation, technique of the instrument (for both the voice and the harp), repertoire, improvisation and composition skills. At the same time, I work very individually with students and tailor my teaching to their particular learning style, interests, choices of music and goals they have. I encourage my students to perform but I do not push them to do so. I am able to help students with any performance anxiety and concerns they may have and help them to find the joy and love in performing. I believe technique both in voice and the harp are a very key foundation to building strong musical skills with the instrument and I work to build a good, healthy technique in both cases.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Living Room: two harps, recorded music accompaniment, couch, parents can sit in on lesson

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can bring my small harp but it is necessary that every student have his/her own harp in order to practice.

*** Specialties ***
I can play many different styles of music but I would say I specialize in celtic and also improvisation and composition.
