All styles are welcome!! Rock, funk and reggae kicks!! Metal, country and R&B grooves!!! Afro-Cuban, ska and jazz swings!!!! Keyboard instruments available if students plans studying marimba, xylophone or vibes. Latin percussion also available for students wanting to learn conga, bongos, timbales, hand instruments/toys.

Lesson Details

I am quite a laid back teacher, who likes to approach the student with basic percussive knowledge while incorporating what the student may already know. I concentrate on beginner drummers, teaching basic note values and rhythms and studying with students on what they aim to learn and achieve. All ages and all styles of drumming are encouraged and welcome! After 3 months of training, beginning students should be able to understand drum-set notation, play basic drum-set patterns, and ... understand fundamental rudiments. After 6 months, students should be able to read drum or percussion music, play along with a metronome, and play a basic drum set or conga solo. Knowledge of percussion instruments are dependent on students want of percussion instruments, i.e., timbales, congas, bongos, hand percussion.

About

Hi, my name is Chadwick G. and I aim to teach the beginner student basic percussion techniques, drum set notation, basic music theory and stage performance. I also emphasize teaching fundamental rudiments to ensure successful sight-reading skills and understanding of music terminology amongst peers. Graduating with an A.A. in Music from San Antonio College, I plan to keep teaching beginner students to see them go off and continue to learn music throughout their middle school, high school ... and/or collegiate years. I have been studying and performing on drums / percussion for 18 years, playing different styles and genres of music and have used my touring experience to help promote good performance skills, i.e. performance anxiety. Involved in many community ensembles and events.
