I started playing music at the age of 3. Hailing from a long line of musicians, my first musical experiences were vocal performance & the drum set. In junior high, I expanded my skill set to the piano. My skills were honed & perfected in the Latin Jazz/Pop super-group ‘Soulsa Caliente’. I later organized my own multi-genre band and performed in various venues throughout the city of Houston, TX & southern regions of the U.S. My summer months were spent participating and teaching in the Diaz Music Institute’s Latin Jazz Workshop conducted annually by Jose Antonio Diaz, Horace Young, Noe Marmolejo & other great musical heavyweights. My diligence, focus, and perfectionism began to shine before I even graduated from high school. The most notable were: All State jazz drummer #1 ranking in Texas for the year 2007-2008 & performing at the prestigious Midwest Jazz Clinic & conference 2005-2009. I have played with many major artists in all genres, including: Soulsa Caliente, Brenda K. Starr, John Faddis, Ndugu Chancler, Eddie Palmieri, TC Carson, Miguel Zenon, Frankie Negrón, Kevin Mahogany, Jimmy Bosch, David Sanchez, Pete Escovedo, Patrice Rushen, Carl Thomas, Darrell Rushing, Phyllis Kennedy, Kurt Carr, Bettye Ransom Nelson, Kim Burrell, Micah Stampley, Troy Barnett and Raw Energy, Oliver Scott of The Gap Band, Niketta Clegg, V. Michael McKay, Joe ligon, and many more. *** Lesson Details *** Learning from me, you will be in awe of music. I will teach you every style of music you want to learn. Beginning to drum is set up for the student who is excited about learning to drum for the first time. Each student will learn how to hold drum sticks, understand how to let the drum stick bounce off the drum pad, and work on beginning rhythms to better their understanding of percussion. Students not only will learn how to drum, but will also learn how to read and understand music. For the more advance drummer you will learn more rhythms, you will be able to perform a genre of styles learning from me. Lets make it happen!!!! *** Studio Equipment *** Music room with drums. Full weighted keyboard. Seating available for parents.
