Carrie is a classically trained soprano. She studied Vocal Performance for her Bachelor's Degree at Brigham Young University (BYU), where she sang in numerous opera and operetta productions, including the role of Mimi in La Boheme. She was a finalist in BYU's Singer of the Year competition for three years in a row and also sang in BYU's premier choral group. Her true musical passion is teaching, and she has enjoyed teaching voice for 10 years and piano for 8 years. She specializes in establishing a healthy vocal instrument that is flexible, powerful, and efficient. She employs repertoire from classical art song, musical theater, folk, pop, r&b, and jazz to accomplish this goal. Carrie is fluent in Spanish. She and her husband, Cameron, have lived in Utah, Ohio, Spain, and Peru, and are very happy to be back in San Luis Obispo. They are the parents of two daughters, ages 5 and 3.

Carrie is my first singing teacher, and she has set a very high bar for future teachers. At first I was only interested in belting Broadway musicals. She was able to help me hit the higher notes and hold them while using proper technique and proper breathing. She also guided me into opera! I am now learning a song in Italian, and never in a million years would I have thought, I could sing opera! If you are looking for a educated, talented, encouraging, all around magnificent teacher! Look no further!

We have been very happy with Carrie as our daughter's singing instructor. Our daughter wanted to audition for some acting/singing roles and improve her singing skills overall, and Carrie has been a great asset. Carrie helped her identify her strengths and work on her weaknesses, work on technique to improve her overall vocal skills, add affect to a song, and even learn what she can do to help her voice before a performance. Shannon really enjoys her lessons and always wants to go.

Excellent Piano teacher Carrie is an amazing piano instructor!!! My son Elijah is 10 years old & thanks to Carrie he LOVE playing the piano!!! Even after the first lesson he was eager to come back every week. Carrie is very professional!! She loves her job and takes it very seriously with a kid friendly approach, so the kids feel comfortable with her. The communication between Carrie and myself was great! She called a few times before our first lesson to get to know Elijah a little bit before the lessons began. Which I loved! Carrie also kept in touch through email or phone if she needed anything or if I had questions. She is very helpful and you can always rely on her to be on time. Also, her studio was clean and comfortable for lessons. I would recommend Carrie as an instructor to anyone! She's amazing!!! I also got the honor to meet her beautiful family! Carrie is all around a great wife, mother and instructor!!!!
