I have created my own specific method for beginning and intermediate students. It introduces them to music notation, rhythmic figures and ear training at an early stage so their musical development gets easier and more approachable as they progress. Many students - mostly intermediate- struggle with rhythm, I've found that an early introduction to rhythm exercises helps in their overall musical development. Less frustration means more fun playing music! I introduce all my students to ... contrasting genres, from classical to jazz ; the combination of these musical styles is an effective teaching tool for all ages. For my more advanced students, I emphasize basics and musicality. I like to work with them through solo pieces and etudes and steadily build their knowledge about the repertoire and the instrument itself. I urge them to find accompanist and start to rehearse together. I look forward to having our first lesson!

I'm a very friendly and patient teacher. Our lessons will be laid back and comfortable, no reason to be afraid!

Playing Music is absurd amounts of fun, however, it can be very challenging and sometimes a bit frustrating. Daily practice is something I strongly believe in, I encourage all my music students to incorporate a practice routine into their lives. If they don't, they will become bored, and its a very short road from boredom to quitting altogether. The better you get, the more fun it ... is! The amount of practice that I recommend all depends on the age and skill level of the student.

I understand that every student learns in a different way, I will do my best to discover the teaching method that works best for each of my students. I don't expect any of my students to be perfect, but I do strive for excellence!

I love making music fun and exciting! Especially for younger kids. I promise you will love to play your instrument every single time!

Hello students and parents! I'm Carlos, I won't bore you with a lengthy description of myself, but I'll tell you a bit about my teaching background, education and why I love teaching music!

I received a BM in Trumpet Performance and Bio-musicology (how music affects the brain/body) from San Diego State University.

I have had over 10 years experience in Music Education and Trumpet Performance, I have performed with a wide range of distinguished groups all across California, from the ... Tulare County Symphony to San Diego's Own Westwind Brass Quintet. As a passionate music educator, I spend my free time teaching music to children of impoverished communities in Ecuador.

As founder and director of S.A.H.L.U.D.'s Music Education program (a non-profit organization) my team of dedicated music educators and I travel abroad to share the gift of music with others that are less fortunate.

I am a classically trained trumpet player, but jazz was - and always will be - my first love. I incorporate various genres into my lessons, from classical, to jazz, to blues to rock. Music is very flexible and diverse, we must explore all of it's wonderful genres!

Having lived in South America for 11 years, I am qualified to give trumpet and piano lessons in Spanish and English. (I'm still working on my French!)
