Dance with Carla S.

Carla S. has been dancing since the age of 8. She trained at The Turning Pointe Dance Center in San Antonio,Texas, attended workshops and competitions across the state, and trained summers in Los Angeles, California. At 17, she began dancing professionally but decided to put her focus in teaching dance to young, aspiring dancers. In 2004 she returned to the stage as a singer/dancer. From 2004-2012, Carla worked as a performer for Six Flags, as well as choreographer and director for multiple styles of shows including swing, Broadway, flamenco, country, hip hop and pop, and received awards for her work on a national level. She was a costar and co-producer for "Just Us", a vaudeville style show that ran in Oklahoma in 2009. In 2010, she became a mother, and in 2012 decided to go back to sharing her knowledge and love of dance to students. She is currently a teacher and director of two performance companies at San Antonio School for the Performing Arts. She is affiliated with the Woodlawn Theatre, where she has choreographed main stage productions including "In the Heights" which won her an ATAC Globe award for best choreography in 2013. She is also affiliated with the Northeast Independent School District where she has staged theatrical productions and choreographed for concerts, musicals and competitions. Most importantly, she is the proud wife of a talented musician and mother of the most wonderful little girl in the world!
