About

Originally from Maryland, Calen J. is a Douglasville, Georgia resident with a burning passion for music. His involvement with the performing arts dates back to 1994 where he took up the alto saxophone as his primary instrument, and 1996 when piano became his secondary; since then he has dealt heavily with band performance, where most of his expertise lies.

Mr. J's experience includes but is not limited to:

-4 of years of marching and concert band at Morehouse College
-Served 3 years as ... a student arranger for the marching band
-Served 1 year as a vocal/general music teacher at Concord Elementary School in District Heights, MD
-A member of the King's Men Choir of Ebenezer AME Church in Ft. Washington, MD, for 1 year; sang 2nd tenor
-A member of Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, Inc.
-Over 10 years of on-stage performance experience as a vocalist and Hiphop artist.

Mr. J. focuses on building students' understanding and performance of their respective instruments from the ground up, with emphasis on mastering the basics. Growth, confidence in your craft, and success are the three key results you can expect from having him as an instructor for you/your child!
