    About Brendon Z.

My name is Brendon, and I am currently teaching English composition and literature courses. I have a fondness for words, languages, and grammar, so of course my experience has been in teaching not only literature, but also the nitty-gritty grammatical aspects of writing. Having obtained my Master's, I'm well acquainted with the fine-tuning of my writing and editing skills, skills that I hope to pass onto others. In the past I have tutored students from high school to college level in reading comprehension and academic writing (from essay structure all the way down to sentence structure); additionally, I have a strong knowledge and aptitude with Latin, another subject I can lend my tutoring to. My own personal interests are centered in ancient and medieval history and literature, art history, and Victorian literature. The thing about teachers and tutors is they have a certain ineffable passion for the things they like to learn and study, and I believe that one of the teacher's jobs is to show their student how to be passionate about something. The job of teaching isn't necessarily just to instruct a student on a set of skills or body of knowledge, but to help incite some energy and zeal in the student. I take pride in my fussy fastidiousness, my attention to presentation and style, and also the fact that I’m usually the first person my colleagues go to for help. I work promptly and dependably, and I have great interpersonal skills. I very much enjoy making learning entertaining for my students, and so I welcome the opportunity to help you and your children meet the highest academic goals.
