I have been a musician since the age of 5 and began singing at the age of 15, after which I continued my classical vocal studies at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. I teach both private voice and piano. I have also worked as an Elementary Music Instructor in the Dallas Independent School District in North Texas. My accomplishments as an educator include Teacher of the Year for the 2009--2010 school year as well as Director of the All City Elementary Honor Choir in Dallas. In addition to teaching, I have performed in musicals with numerous theaters as an actor and singer. *** Lesson Details *** I have a unique style of reaching my students by focusing on the specific needs of the individual, realizing that each person is unique in his or her own right and deserves special attention in their musical development. A more disciplined student who has more specific goals will receive a stricter, challenging lesson, while the student wanting a laid back demeanor during lessons will have a much different experience. I also enjoy meeting new people from various backgrounds and have significant experience working with children of all ages. *** Studio Equipment *** I can teach at your home. I can bring a keyboard if one is not available at your residence. *** Travel Equipment *** I have music repertoire and a full length keyboard with weighted keys. It would be necessary for the student to have a piano or keyboard to practice on away from the lesson time. *** Specialties *** Voice: Classical, musical theater, and pop, providing guidance in proper breathing, correct vocal tone, and proper vocal placement. Piano: My instruction in piano is geared to the younger student who is developing basic reading skills. I can also teach the adult who is wanting to only learn chords and am able to provide the student with the musical style of their choice.
