    I teach elementary students mostly by the Suzuki Method. I also but an emphasis on theory.
    Lesson Details
    My curriculum is a made up of both the Suzuki Method and an emphasis on theory. Most violin teachers utilize only the Suzuki Method. However, the Suzuki Method does not teach theory until at least year two and is mostly ear training. I feel that not exposing my students to theory is like teaching them to read without knowing the alphabet. In other words, its counter productive to their musical education.     I was born and raised in Houston Texas where I attended Spring Branch Middle School. There, under the phenomenal direction of Shauna Shaw, I learned to play the violin at age 11. I continued with orchestra at Memorial High School's rigorous program. In both programs, I competed in Solo and Ensemble competitions and was awarded metals every time.
