Ben S. graduated from California Institute of the Arts with a BFA in Music and an emphasis in composition/songwriting. He is an active musician in Los Angeles as a composer doing music scoring for Film and Television as well as the lead guitarist/songwriter/vocalist for the band “Golden Days”. He is a dynamic musical artist with emphasis in guitar, piano, harmonica, mandolin, music theory, songwriting, and recording. He has 5 years of teaching experience in private lessons and has worked as a T.A under great teachers such as Susie Allen(Director of Cal Arts MAP program) and Mark Lowenstein(Conductor/Composer/Skills teacher of Cal Arts). He likes to integrate music theory and songwriting into his lessons with students and encourages the student to develop their own musical voice. With Ben as your teacher, you will learn Music Theory, Aural Skills, Note Reading, and Rhythm. He will develop creative lesson plans that are fun while catering to the students musical goals. *** Studio Equipment *** Living room: chairs, music stands, 1 guitar for teacher, amp, no piano lessons at this studio location. Additional seating for parents available. *** Travel Equipment *** I expect my students to have their own instrument. I will take care of the rest. *** Specialties *** I come from a folk/rock and blues background with a bit of classical experience. I am more familiar and comfortable teaching in these styles.
