Overview

I love music and I enjoy helping my students to share the fun and enjoyment of making music. I am a very patient teacher and have a good sense of humor. My experience includes over 25 years of teaching private singing and piano lessons as well as school music and choral directing of students of all ages

I have Bachelor and Master degrees in Vocal Performance with minor in piano. I especially enjoy teaching Broadway singing, but also teach country, classical and pop. In piano I teach all types. I have several former students that are pursuing musical careers in performance and teaching.

*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons are tailored to individual students needs. Fundamentals are emphasized and I always enjoy finding out what each student wants to learn and help him/her to do that. I use books that will suit the individual's needs. I guarantee a fun atmosphere and positive experience to all students.

*** Studio Equipment ***
My studio is located in a quiet residential area and has a separate outdoor entrance. It is equipped with a Baldwin studio piano and CD equipment. There is a comfortable waiting area for parents as well.

*** Specialties ***
Even though I am classically trained, I feel at home with all types of music. I especially enjoy Broadway music and have had a lot of experience with working with students in this genre. I have former students who are performing in entertainment venues and several who are actively pursuing careers in music education.

I like to tailor my lessons to the individual student so I use many different excellent methods in teaching piano. I enjoy working with all ages----pre-school through adults.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great lesson It's only been one lesson, but it is quite clear that Barbara knows her stuff. She has an air of comfort and confidence in her teaching that can only be achieved with years of experience. Barbara makes you instantly feel at home and makes an effort to get to know you before jumping into instruction. I'm looking forward to my next lesson with this great teacher! February 12, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mom of 5-Year-Old I cannot say enough good things about Barbara. I would highly recommend her for any younger students. She has not only piqued the interest of my 5-year-old, but has somehow maintained her interest through every lesson. Aside from the musical aspect, Barbara is very patient and kind and my daughter refuses to leave her lesson without a hug good-bye. July 24, 2012
