Singing with Babar K.

Hello! My name is Babar and I specialize in teaching others how to sing. My training comes from the Georgia State School of Music where I have studied various musical genres as well as vocal projection. My teaching methodology however, is unique since I tailor make my lessons according to the individual needs of each student. This is because every individual comes with a different skills-set which includes different strengths and different weaknesses. I will teach you to recognize your individual strengths while advising you on how to work on your weaknesses until you can bridge the gap between the two mediums. Though every student will progress differently, the ultimate result will not only be a more comfortable singing voice but also one where your various bridges will be connected thus resulting in a more even tone and a connected register. *** Lesson Details *** Our first meeting will consist of a diagnostic where I will ask you what your vocal goals are. I will have you sing a few scales in order to evaluate your stamina, tone, pitch and get a feel for where your breaking point is. This will enable me to tailor make a lesson plan that fits your individual needs. I will never have you sing scales on a piano because every individual’s voice is of a unique design and simply imitating piano scales can, at times, serve as a limiting factor instead of the liberating catalyst you need to discover your hidden singing potential. Please don’t expect an overnight change. Learning to sing correctly takes time, often in the face of bad singing habits that have had years to develop. Please also know that like any activity that one indulges in, there will be difficult days where progress will seem slower. However, do also know that I will be there to help you get past the plateaus and meet your good days where you will actually be able to feel/hear the progress that you have made, and are making. I will also make it fun! Unlike instructors who don’t allow students to sing their favorite songs for weeks, sometimes even months after the commencement of their singing lessons, I will have you bring in and begin practicing a song of your choice from day one! This is because I believe strongly that there is no greater catalyst to learning than allowing the student to implement immediately, the various skills that he or she is learning/acquiring. So make sure that on day one, you bring your favorite song with you! *** Travel Equipment *** I suggest that my students have a paper and pencil for note taking. However I do not insist upon it and leave this up to individual students to decide for themselves. *** Specialties *** I sing and teach singing and vocal method in genres of song from Country to R and B to pop to jazz/soul.
