Specialties

I enjoy using multiple methods book, I like to choose one in particular as the main book (such as "New Directions") and use other similar books for sight reading, ear training, and extra literature (Strictly Strings, Suzuki Method, Essential Elements, etc). I prefer to teach classical style music.

Lesson Details

I tend to be a very laid back teacher and enjoy working with students of all ages. It is never too late to learn an instrument. I use the New Directions for strings book. If a student is in a school orchestra and is already using a curriculum book such as Strictly Strings, Essential Elements, or All for Strings I would highly recommend the student to continue using that book in our private lessons. I do like to supplement the New Directions book with songs from the Suzuki Method, other ... curriculum books, and other literature. After working with a beginning student for 3 to 6 months the student should know how to hold their instrument comfortably, be able to name the strings on the violin, be able to read and play simple songs, as well as having a basic understand of steady beat.

Hi, My name is Ms. Ashley. I enjoy teaching and working with students. I grew up learning the violin and loved it, now I would like to share that love and passion and inspire my students to learn the violin. I attended college and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education, specifically instrumental. My main Instrument is the Violin.
