    About Arthur W.

I began playing electric bass in 1984 performing in rock bands in the late 1980's to the present. When I began my formal education in 2006 I realized the importance of understanding chord structure/theory and began a love of studying guitar. Studying music theory and music composition/arranging completed my understanding musical concepts and how they apply directly to the instrument. *** Lesson Details *** Beginner students will learn the basics: learning proper left-hand/finger placement, learning the notes on the neck of the guitar, basic scales and chords, proper right-hand picking and/or finger-style (proper technique will pay off in the long run, improper technique/ bad habits take longer to break). Learning can be boring if you're limited to just exercises; adding a few easy songs always make the learning process more engaging. Intermediate students will learn hands on application to musical concepts: how to build a solo, chord progressions, alternate chord voicings, etc. Good/proper practice habits are important for everyone; it's important practice what you've learned at slow pace rather than rushing to achieve the quickest (and not the best) results. *** Travel Equipment *** I expect students to have instrument(s), proper instruction books, and staff paper. For lessons I can provide a music stand and amplifier if needed. *** Specialties *** Guitar teacher, beginner to intermediate. Associates degree in music performance for both classical guitar and jazz electric bass in 2010.
